2016 Hardwood Flooring Customer Preference Survey
Last year we asked interior designers to share their experiences about the preferences of their customers as it relates to hardwood flooring. We found out some great information along the way, so much so that we decided to do it again this year. It’s our hope that we can compare trends and share them with not only interior designers, but homeowners as well.
This year, we talked to 205 interior designers across the country about what they are recommending, what their customers are asking them for, and what trends they are seeing for the upcoming year.
We were very excited about the results and we were slightly surprised when we found that only 44% of designers say that they use solid hardwood flooring the most when flooring is a part of a redesign (instead of engineered hardwood), down from 63% last year. But we also found out that an unsurprising 76% of those surveyed said that they would recommend solid hardwood flooring for homes with pets, compared to 23% that would choose engineered flooring. And although, last year, 78% of surveyed interior designers said they prefer to use hardwood flooring throughout the home, instead a few key rooms, in 2016, that went down to 67%.
If you’re ready to be surprised by the results, like we were, take a look and see what else the experts had to say about which kind of hardwood flooring they recommend most, what’s trending, how consumers are using social media to help them design their homes, what flooring is recommended most for homes with pets, and more.
